Over the next four years, Special Olympics Ireland aims to double the number of people with a learning disability participating in Special Olympics in communities across the island of Ireland from 8,000 to 16,000.

In order to do this, and to continue to provide a high quality sports training and competition programme for our athletes, funding is required in addition to that raised through grants and sponsorship.

Various fundraising events are organised annually and we are always on the look out for new and novel fundraising ideas and are happy to assist you in whatever ways we can, to make your event a success - for you and for Special Olympics!

Saturday, May 15, Powerscourt Golf Tournament
The sun shone brightly in Powerscourt on Saturday, May 15, as over 20 teams arrived to participate in the qualifier for the Mitsubishi Electric Des Smyth Pro-Am in aid of Special Olympics Ireland. The event is organised annually by the Links Golfing Society, who have raised over €5million for various Irish charities over the past ten years.

As temperatures soared, many teams found the greens were running fast and the going all round the course was tough.  But everyone came in after the 18 holes with a smile on their face - despite the scores! The 10 lucky winning teams were announced by long time Special Olympics Ireland supporter Christy O’Connor Jnr.
