To be eligible to participate in Special Olympics a person must have been diagnosed by the medical profession as having a learning/intellectual disability.

Athletes can start training with Special Olympics from the age of 6 and may compete from the age of 8. There is no upper age limit.

The first step in getting involved as an athlete is to contact your Regional Special Olympics office. Click here

Your Regional Office will have a list of clubs in your area and will put you in contact with the organiser/coach of that club. The Regional Office will also know which sports are available at clubs in your area
